1960 to 1969
In 1960 Joe began piano lessons. His teacher was a Catholic nun. Lessons were twenty cents per week. Joe continued piano lessons for 4 years. At the same time he was teaching himself guitar. At age eleven he was offered his first professional job demonstrating guitars at J.C. Penny. Soon after Joe joined his best friend's Dad's bluegrass band.
