1985/86 USA Vintage '62 Stratocaster Reissue   SOLD

They say than there was no reissues made in 1985 because of the move from Fullerton to Fenders new facility.  The quality is still here as evidenced by every aspect of this guitar.  Very good condition for being twenty years old.  The nitro Candy Apple Red has turned a darker shade and is very attractive.  No major dings.

1985 USA Vintage '62 reissue Fender Stratocaster in rare Candy Apple Red      BACK

1985/86 Stratocaster neck pocket and neck date

1985-86  USA Vintage '62 Stratocaster reissue in rare Candy Apple Red in near mint condition. The pots are dated 1378535 which makes them the 35th week of 1985, but the neck date indicates 11-21-86.  V025XXX serial number.   Includes much of original case candy, bridge cover, trem bar, polish cloth,  and paper work.  This thing plays like butter and sound fantastic.  You don't see these every day.  This guitar is VERY VERY special.  Ideal sound almost made me cry.  THIS sounds like a Stratocaster should.  8lb. 4 oz. Very resonant.

$3,450   SOLD

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7356565794&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Here is one that just sold on Ebay.  Not as old and not as nice.

Three years ago we had a real 1962 Candy Apple Red Stratocaster here.  It had several issues that was keeping it from being a $20,000 guitar.  At one point someone decided to change the tuners and drilled the holes that go thru the headstock bigger so that when the original tuners were replaced they were a bit loose.  One of the pickups and one of the potentiometers had been changed.  There was some wood removed in one of the pick up cavities. There was some overspray on the back of the neck.  The original frets were worn smooth rendering the guitar just about unplayable.  Pick ups were very uneventful sounding.  Still it sold for almost $8k with original brown Tolex case.  It did not sound, look, or play near as nice as the reissue above.
