Case restoration project
A guitar case is very important. The dings on the case would be on the guitar if not for the case. People take good care of their guitar but seem to ignore the guitar case. I recently had to buy a 1970's guitar case and it cost over $250. So it is worth the time to fix one up if it needs some TLC. The case you see here came with my 1974 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe. The case had some major issues. Inside of the case is great and all the latches worked fine. Only one foot and one latch was missing. But.....

The bottom is loose from the sides, purple case lining sticking out, and much of the tolex covering is loose or missing. There is also some white paint spots on all the surfaces.

The bottom and the sides were glued and clamped over night. After cleaning all surfaces; the loose tolex was glued back in place with Elmer's Glue All.

All of the loose tolex was rubbed down to the surface real good using a plastic burnishing tool. This is to make sure all the air bubbles are out and the wrinkles removed.

All surfaces were polished with black shoe polish and a brush.
Not like new, but much better.
BEFORE AFTER

Ready for another 33 years of protecting the guitar it has been paired with for all this time.
