How to Tune Get an electric guitar tuner! Here is the one I use and recommend:
KORG CA-30 GUITAR TUNER
$24.95 / FREE SHIPPING
Turn on unit and make sure it reads 440 in upper left hand window. If it does not read 440 you can adjust the number up or down with the CALIBRATION buttons up or down. Place tuner on your knee in front of your acoustic guitar, or plug in your electric guitar. Make sure your volume is set on 10 on the guitar so that the signal will reach the tuner. With an acoustic guitar you need to be aware of background sound like a tv or stereo. Even a fan blowing will effect the signal. Put your hand on the tuner of the string you are going to tune. The electric tuner will only pick up the sound while the string is ringing. Adjust the pitch up or down until the needle is on 0 and the green light comes on. MAKE SURE you are tuning the right note! Look at the read out in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Make sure it says A when you are tuning the A string and not Ab. Tune all six strings then go back and double check. It is important to stay in tune. |
