STUDENT NEWSLETTER 3 May
2007
I hope this letter finds you all happy, and healthy. May first and spring has sprung. Remember to unplug your amps during a storm. Might not be a good idea to be playing an electric guitar when lightning is in the area if you can help it. Time to go unplugged! Practice on the acoustic guitar for a while. This past Sunday a student found me a great 1980 Gibson SG. Arctic White yet! VERY hard to find! Thanks Scott! A real 1980 USA Gibson SG from Florida! You don't see these much anymore. Like a Les Paul only FOUR POUNDS lighter. 100% original down to the 'chainsaw' case. This guitar started off Artic White over the past three decades it now looks more like banana yellow! Thankfully not all guitar deals are bad. Like the super pretty just in from Saint Paul, Minnesota a very nice 1985 Gibson Les Paul Custom in super rare Ferrari Red with Gibson "crank tuners". This might be the prettiest red Les Paul I have ever seen. The gold is hardly tarnished. The abalone inlayed fret markers are iridescent.
Just in from Denver, CO is a first year 1982 USA Fender Fullerton Precision Bass in very rare Candy Apple Red OVER two tone sunburst! A natural relic. VOO94XX! Cool as it gets! Live and learn I always say but ,WOW! I been taken extreme advantage of on a guitar I bought on Ebay that turned out to be a fake. I sent it right back and the seller refused to send me my refund for made up reasons. The same reasons he used to screw five others on Ebay. I am trying to resolve this thru Pay Pal and will keep you posted on the results. Caveat emptor ya'll! Out of the many guitars I have bought on eBay that was the worst deal ever.
The search for the perfect tone never ends. But after years of consideration, trial and error this is my rig more or less. It is not easy to find the original vintage stuff anymore, so this is the new equivalent. Every bit of my new gear comes from MusiciansFriend.com for the past seven years. Best prices, selection, and return policy there is. AND they bring it to your door! If you click thru to MUSICIANS FRIEND .com from this web site to buy something, I get an advertising credit and it does not cost you a penny extra! Musicians Friend is where I get all my new gear. Click on the bar below to go there. If the bar does not appear on your browser go here and click on the MusiciansFriend bar at bottom of that page.
Always Stay Tuned. A lot is going on around here!
