So much going on this month!

My recording project is making progress.   Very busy class load of guitar and bass students.  My favorite time of year!

Dave K. with Little B and The Fat Cats is looking for a new name for his band.  Let us know if you think of one.

Just in is a 1987/8 USA Fender Vintage '57 reissue in two tone sunburst.  Boy does this one play nice.  Super low action with no buzzing.  Looks like it might be a refret with larger frets!!  No wonder it plays so well.

SUPER GUITAR!!

SUPER BASS!

On the way now is a V0064XX serial number USA Vintage '62 Reissue Jazz Bass in very rare Fiesta Red!  Good shape.  Super light!

Back in 1998 one of my guitar students had a very cool experience.  Student Greg was working for Science Diet Pet Food and he talked them into donating a truck load of dog food to Kinky Friedman's benefit concert for the local S.P.C.A. he holds every year in the Texas Hill country.  Greg had his secretary call Kinky's secretary and he thought that was the end.  Much to Greg's surprise he received a call from Mr. Friedman thanking him profusely and inviting Greg and his wife to sit with him and his friends at the concert.  Kinky's friends include Willie Nelson,  Emmy Lou Harris, Wayne "the train" Hancock, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Jeff Walker, Leroy Parnell,  to name a few.  At some point during the show Kinky asked Greg if he played guitar.  Greg told him that he was currently taking lessons.  Greg and his wife were then invited to go back to Kinky's house after the show to jam with him and his friends.  I would consider this a once in a lifetime event.  Here are a few pics of Greg and a few of his fellow jammers:

  Greg and Leroy Parnell

Now THAT is a jam session!  The guitar opens many doors.

Kinky Friedman has made millions of dollars from his best selling novels and donated it all to the SPCA.  He is quite a guy.  Also running for governor of Texas.  I have to support a fellow guitar player.  Especially one with as much good character as Kinky Friedman.  Go to his site and make a big ol' donation and buy a t-shirt knowing that it will go to a great cause.  The 2006 Fix.  Good luck Kinky.

Do you have a tube amp that needs work?  Give Craig Wallace a call at (214) 327-1004.  He does work for George Thorogood,  Eric Johnson,  and yours truly.  The only complaint I have about Craig is that he does not charge enough money for the great work he does.  Craig is my tone guru.  You can check out his new cd at:

Looking for triplets?

1983 USA Gibson Custom Shop Edition ES 335 '59 reissue NOS!1983 Gibson J45 Prototype in mint unplayed condition. Mint condition 1984 USA Fender Fullerton Vintage '57 Reissue. 100% original guitar.

Just happen to have a nice set of guitar from 1984.  Including two Gibsons from 1984 that are in new mint unplayed condition.  A custom shop Special Edition ES 335 and a super rare  J 45 Prototype.  And as mint as they come 1984 Fullerton '57 reissue nicest Strat in stock.  All in tobacco sunburst.  Not only do these look like perfection they sound as good as they look.  Much better than most.  All three are collector pieces.  Click on the guitar above for more information on that guitar.

The search for the perfect tone never ends.  But after years of consideration, trial and error this is my rig more or less.  It is not easy to find the original vintage stuff anymore, so this is the new equivalent.

Every bit of my new gear comes from MusiciansFriend.com  for the past six years.  Best prices,  selection,  and return policy there is. AND they bring it to your door!   If you click thru to MUSICIANS FRIEND .com from this web site to buy something,  I get an advertising credit and it does not cost you a penny extra!  Musicians Friend is where I get all my new gear.  Click on the bar below to go there.  If the bar does not appear on your browser go here and click on the MusiciansFriend bar at bottom of that page.
