STUDENT NEWSLETTER 11 September
2007 I hope this letter finds you all happy, healthy, cool, and in tune. School started and less than four months till Christmas! Encourage someone you love to play music. If they start now they will be playing Christmas songs by Christmas. Student Craig S. just got back from Billy Bob's in Fort Worth to see the Cowboys of Color Show. A who's who in blues. The REAL deal..
Bob Margolin (above) use to play with Muddy Waters. Kind of resembles another blues picker we know.
Buddy Guy was Jimi Hendrix's biggest influence. Pinetop Perkins influenced us all.
James Cotton is as real as they get. Honeyboy Edwards is the last of a fast disappearing age or real blues musicians. They were there long before Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones, and everyone else that would NEVER have happened if not for the blues. This IS the real deal. We have to thank these guys for all modern music we love today. Without them there would be no rock and roll or country. I want to thank bass student Craig S. for the fantastic photos. Thank you Craig! You should do this for a living! Going to this show was witnessing history in the making. WOW! What a show! Get it while you can.
Just in from Georgia is a 99% original 1972 Gibson SG! Excellent condition. Also just in from California is a 1980 Gibson SG in rare Polaris white turned banana yellow with side input.
The search for the perfect tone never ends. But after years of consideration, trial and error this is my rig more or less. It is not easy to find the original vintage stuff anymore, so this is the new equivalent. Every bit of my new gear comes from MusiciansFriend.com or Guitar Center for the past eight years. Best prices, selection, and return policy there is. AND they bring it to your door! If you click thru to MUSICIANS FRIEND .com or Guitar Center.com from this web site to buy something, I get an advertising credit and it does not cost you a penny extra! Musicians Friend and Guitar Center is where I get all my new gear. Click on the link below to go there. If the link does not appear on your browser go here and click on the MusiciansFriend or Guitar Center link at bottom of that page.
Always Stay Tuned. A lot is going on around here!
