I hope this letter finds you all happy, and healthy. Time to learn some Christmas Songs! 36 days until Christmas! That could only mean one thing: I can email you the certificate with your to and from name and you can print it out on your printer, or I can send you a copy, or I can mail the certificate to your favorite person. Easy.
It is great to pass on the gift of music to the next generation of guitar stars!
Check out the new cool chord and lyric site: CHORDIE.COM It is the best yet! You can even transpose your music into all 12 keys! How cool is that? VERY!!!
Bass guitar is tuned like the four low strings on a 6 string guitar. E A D G. So it is the same notes in the same place one octave lower than a 6 string. Usually played just one note at a time it lays down the groove and is the tie between drums and guitar. Bass is a rhythm instrument that is more like a drum than a guitar. Good bass players are hard to find and in high demand. Check out these bass guitars that just came in recently.

Back in 1998 one of my guitar students had a very cool experience. Student Greg was working for Science Diet Pet Food and he talked them into donating a truck load of dog food to Kinky Friedman's benefit concert for the local S.P.C.A. he holds every year in the Texas Hill country. Greg had his secretary call Kinky's secretary and he thought that was the end. Much to Greg's surprise he received a call from Mr. Friedman thanking him profusely and inviting Greg and his wife to sit with him and his friends at the concert. Kinky's friends include Willie Nelson, Emmy Lou Harris, Wayne "the train" Hancock, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Jeff Walker, Leroy Parnell, to name a few. At some point during the show Kinky asked Greg if he played guitar. Greg told him that he was currently taking lessons. Greg and his wife were then invited to go back to Kinky's house after the show to jam with him and his friends. I would consider this a once in a lifetime event. Here are a few pics of Greg and a few of his fellow jammers:
Now THAT is a jam session! The guitar opens many doors. Kinky Friedman has made millions of dollars from his best selling novels and donated it all to the SPCA. He is quite a guy. Also running for governor of Texas. I have to support a fellow guitar player. Especially one with as much good character as Kinky Friedman. Go to his site and make a big ol' donation and buy a t-shirt knowing that it will go to a great cause. The 2006 Fix. Good luck Kinky. If Kinky wins just think of how cool that helps make Greg's story! He got invited to jam with the Gov!
The search for the perfect tone never ends. But after years of consideration, trial and error this is my rig more or less. It is not easy to find the original vintage stuff anymore, so this is the new equivalent. Every bit of my new gear comes from MusiciansFriend.com for the past seven years. Best prices, selection, and return policy there is. AND they bring it to your door! If you click thru to MUSICIANS FRIEND .com from this web site to buy something, I get an advertising credit and it does not cost you a penny extra! Musicians Friend is where I get all my new gear. Click on the bar below to go there. If the bar does not appear on your browser go here and click on the MusiciansFriend bar at bottom of that page.
Always Stay Tuned. A lot is going on around here!
