PAST STUDENT NEWSLETTERS

Hi Everybody!  Hope you are all doing well.  Less than six months until Christmas!

The Gibson Flying V was never produced in big numbers and are hard to find good examples.  They make more of a statement on stage than any other guitar ever made.  Like a tattoo, switchblade knife, a Harley Davidson,  a leather jacket,  a pack of Camels, or pair of Ray Bans it just makes you feel cool or at the very least cooler.

I guess you all figured that after I got the Marshall 1/2 stack that a Flying V would be inevitable.  You were right.  Not easy to find because Gibson has so many funky versions of this guitar.  Here are three really cool examples that took me a long time to locate.

1983 Gibson Flying V in custom color black. Natural Relic!  1985 Gibson Flying V in custom color red. Excellent condition.  1999 Gibson Flying V Hard Rock Cafe promotional. Original strings.

Just in from Chicago IL is a 1983 Gibson Flying V in custom color black in natural relic condition.  Scary guitar has Tim Shaw "Dirty Fingers" pickups.  The hottest pickup Gibson EVER made is twice as hot as a regular humbucker at a scorching 18K!!!  One power chord tuned down to drop D could splinter the guitar and cause spontaneous combustion.

Just in from New Hampshire is an EXTREMELY rare 1985 Gibson Flying V in custom color Red with factory Grover tuners!  Excellent condition.  You all know how I like the color red.  I looked for a Flying V for over two years before I finally found this one.    Flying Vs make a heck of a statement on stage.  Very stylish.  I have been playing this guitar all week and man does it rock.  Wild thing.  1,000 on the cool-o-meter.

Just in from Kansas is a very rare and unusual 1999 Gibson Flying V custom shop model made for Hard Rock Cafe.  Only 60 of these were made.  Custom blue color with matching headstock,  Factory Grover tuners,  Vintage features,  Hard Rock Cafe logo,  and Flames!  Original strings!  Unplayed brand new condition.  Comes with Gibson Flying V case (as if anything else would fit).

You can do anything anyone else can do when you practice it as much as they did.

Wow!  We better get busy!

As you all know; my search for the perfect tone never ends.  But after years of consideration, trial and error this is my rig more or less.  It is not easy to find the original vintage stuff anymore, so this is the new equivalent.

Every bit of my new gear comes from MusiciansFriend.com or Guitar Center for the past eight years.  Best prices,  selection,  and return policy there is. AND they bring it to your door!   If you click thru to MUSICIANS FRIEND .com or Guitar Center.com from this web site to buy something,  I get an advertising credit and it does not cost you a penny extra!  Musicians Friend and Guitar Center is where I get all my new gear.  Click on the link below to go there.  If the link does not appear on your browser go here and click on the MusiciansFriend or Guitar Center link at bottom of that page.
